~N ORDI2~CE TO ~ SE~i©N B1-4 OF -~q~ CODE OF <br />THE CI~f OF PORTS~Ui~H, VLRGINL&, 1961, TO REQU~ <br />DRIVEWAYS TO BE Fb-LLY PA\~. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that Section 31-4 of the Code <br />of the City of Portsmouth, V~rgiria, 1961~ be amended <br />mhd reordained ~o read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 31-4. Lowering c'-~rbs; private ¢triveways <br /> or ramp. s. <br /> <br /> No person shall lower the curb on a_ny street, or <br />lay any~ private drive~%y or rm~ crossir~ ~_ny sideYalk <br />of the ~ity without first obtaining a permit therefor <br />from the director of public works. Ail such driveways <br />or ramps shall be constructed and curbs lowered ac- <br />co_~iing to plans ~o be furnished by the director of <br />public works: for which plans the applicant shall pay <br />fifty cents; and under the super~_sion of the director <br />of public work~, subject to such conditions as he may <br />prescribe as to materials used and manner of construc- <br />tion. Ail such driveways or ra~os shall be fully <br />paved over their entirS ?i~th between the edge of the <br />pave=~nt of the street smd the property line of the <br />property to be served by such drivev~y or r~mp. Ail <br />paving and repavJmg where necessary, shall be done at <br />the expense of the person receiv~ such perm.~t, it <br />shall be the duty of the owner of such dmive%~_S- at <br />all times to keep the sidewalk crossed by such drive- <br />way or rszap in good repair at his o~.~m expense. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held August 8, 1967. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
