~W ORDINANCE TO Al~kl) SECTION 10-118 OF T~HE <br />CODE OF THE CIndY OF PORTSMOb~ffH, VIRGIniA, 1961, <br />SO AS TO ?ROVIDE FOR STAGG~ TP~ FOR ~HE <br />M~RS OF THIE PO,~TSMOUT2H ~[JNiCIP~JC BONID <br />CO_~SSION. <br /> <br /> Be it o~.~ned by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia~ that Section 10-118 of <br />the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1961, be amended smd reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 10-118. Te_~s Sf members~ oath; vacancies; <br /> ¢o_n~pensation. <br /> <br /> ~ne term of tlne ex officio members shall begin <br />on Ms, ch 1, 1967, and shall correspond to their <br />respective official tenures. ~ne terms of the <br />appointed members shall begin on Msmch 1, 1967. Of <br />the original board, two of the aepointed members <br />shall be appointed for a term of oma year, two for <br />a term of ~wo years and one for a term of three years. <br />At the expiration of the respective terms of such <br />appointed mem%ers, their successors shall be %epointed <br />for terms of three years. ~ne %Dpointed members shall <br />hold office dumim~ their respective tez~rs and mntil <br />their successors are appointed and qus2ified. Ail <br />vacsmcies shall be filled by appointment by the <br />co'~mcil for the remainder of the u~expired term. Each <br />member shall take the oath of office prescribed by the <br />charter for city officials, and if any such member <br />shall, for thirty days after reeeivi~s notice of such <br />appointment, fail ~o tmke such oath, he shall be con- <br />sidered as having declined said office, end the same <br />shall be deemed vacant.
