Paint aud lettering on school bus. <br /> <br /> · All motor vehicles, except con~ercial~buse§, station ~agons; <br />automobll.es or trucks, transporting pupils to and from~ ~public~,,, priVate, <br />or parochial schools shall be painted y,e!low ~th the words School Bus, <br />Stop, State Law" on front and rear'in letters ~at least Six inches high <br />except that the wo.r?s "School Bus,, On ~he front may be in leb~ers at <br />least four inches high.if space %s timited,~ and~shalI be equipped with <br />warning devices pr.escribed ~n ~18-233. Only schoo~ buSes~ as defined <br />in ~18-1 may b.e.palnted yellow, identified ~ words above and ~quipped <br />with the specified warning devices.'' ~A ve~.c~e which merely transports <br />pupils, residents at a school, from one point toI an6ther ~ithout inter- <br />mittent stops for the purpose of picking up or discharginE pupils, need <br />not comply with the requirements of this section. <br /> <br />Section 18-235. Mirrors. <br /> <br /> (a) No person sh~.l operate a motor vehicle upon a high~y Of <br />this city which is not equipped with ~ .mirror so located as to reflect <br />to the operator a view of the highway for a distance of hot Less than <br />two hundred feet ~o the rear of such vehicle. <br /> <br /> (b) No motor vehicle registered in this State designed mud <br />licensed pr~arily for passenger vehicular transportation on the public <br />highways mum manufactured for the year nineteen hundred sixty-nine or for <br />subsequent years shall be operated on the highways of this city unless <br />equipped with at least one outside and at least one inside rear view <br />mirror~ meeting the requirements of subsection (a~ hereof. <br /> <br />Section 18-243. Cleats, etc., on tires; chains; tires with studs. <br /> <br /> No tire on a vehicle moved on a highway shalI have on its per- <br />iphery any block, stud, flange, cleat or spike or any other protuberance <br />of any material other than rubber which projects beyond the tread of the <br />traction surface of the tire, except that it shall be permissible to use <br />farm machinery having protuberances which~dll not injure the highway and <br />to use tire chains of reasonable proportions when required for safety because <br />of snow, ice or other conditions tending to cause a vehicle to slide or skid. <br />It shall also be permissible to use upon anyvehicle, whose gross weight does <br />not exceed ten thousand pounds, tires with studs which project not .more than <br />one-sixteenth of an inch beyond the tread of the traction surface of the <br />tire when compressed at which cover not more than three percent of the . <br />traction surface of the tire.
