Sec~ 18-198, Pedestrians not to uae,roadway except when necessary; keep- <br /> lng to left; soliciting rides. <br /> <br /> Pedestrians shall not use the roadways or streets, other <br />than the sidewalk thereof, for travel, except when necessary'to do so <br />because of the absence of sidewalks, ~reaso~ably suitable and passable <br />for their use, in which case, if they' Walk upon the hard sUrface, Or <br />the main travelled portion of the ro~dway~ they shall keep to the ex- <br />trene left side or edge thereof, or where the~ shoulders of the highway <br />are of sufficient width to permit they may walk on either shoulder <br />thereof, <br /> <br /> Pedestrians shall not stand or stop in any roadway Or street <br />for the purpose of soliciting rides. <br /> <br />Sec. 18-214. Other permissible lights, police and fire-fighting vehicles, <br /> amergency vehicles, etc. <br /> <br /> A~y motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two <br />fog lamps, one passing lamp, one driving lamp,:two side lamps of not more <br />than six candle power; interior light of not mo?e than fifteen candle <br />power; vacant or destination signs on vehicles operated as public car- <br />riers, and signal lamps. <br /> <br /> Only those vehicles listed in paragraph (a) of §18-82 and paragraph <br />(a) of ~18-214 and school buses, may be equipped with flashing, blinking <br />or alternating red emer~oency lights of a type approved by the Superintendent. <br /> <br /> Vehicles used for the principal purpose of towing disabled vehicles or <br />in constructing, maintaining and repairing highvays or utilities on or along <br />public high~mys m~y be equipped with flashing, blinking or alternating amber <br />w-arning lights of a type approved by the Superintendent. <br /> <br /> (a) A member of any fire department, volunteer fire cempany or volunteer <br />rescue squad may equip.one vehicle owned by him with a flashing or steady- <br />burning red light of a type approved by the Supe~.intendent, for u.se by him <br />only in answering emergency calls. Any person violating the Provmsion of <br />this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. <br /> <br /> (b) Blue lights, steady or flashing, of a type approved by the Supe~- <br />intendent shall be reserved for civil defense vehicles, publicly or privately <br />owned. <br /> <br /> No motor vehicle shall be operated on any highway which is equipped <br />with any lighting device other than lamps required or permitted in this article <br />or required or approved by the Superintendent. <br /> <br />Sec, 18-224. Within what distance brakes should stop vehicle. <br /> <br /> On a dry, inard approxLmately level stretch of highway free from <br />loose material, the service braking system shall be capable of stopping a <br />motor vehicle or combination of vehicles at all times and under all conditions <br /> <br /> <br />
