AN ORDINANCE TO ~2~F~ND SECTION 411.2 OF Th~ BUILDING CODE OF ~ CITY <br />OF PORT~40~TH, 1967, PERTAIRV-NG TO ~E PROCESSING, M~NUFACTURING OR <br />STORING OF CERTAIN F~ZARDOUS MA'am. <br /> <br /> Be it ordair~d by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that section 411.2 of the Building Code of ~the City of Portsmouth, <br />1967, be amerced and reo?dained to read as follo~: <br /> <br /> .2. proces~sm~r~_~,, c ng o~ storing of the followinE <br /> · a±s, among others, sh~lt oe c±asslfled as a special fire hazard., <br />(Group "H" - Special Hazardous Occupancy), 6ecause Of the highly com- <br />bustible and explosive quality of the materials involved. They shall be <br />classified in two groups as set forth below: <br /> <br /> (A) The follov~rg materials or products stored shall be classi- · <br />fled as Group "H" - Special Hazardous Occupancy, regardless of the volume <br />or quantity stored or hsmdled: <br /> <br /> Acids: Sulphuric, Nitric or Hydroflouri~ - Calcium Carbide - <br />Asplaaltum - Celluloid. Chamicals: Poisonous, combustible, explosive - <br />Cereal, flo~r or feed mills - Cork - Excelsior - Petroleum Products (Not <br />retail gasoline service stations) - Pyroxylin and 'PyrOxylin Plastic <br />Products - Shoddy ~lls - Loose Spices and Vegetable Stocks (not retail <br />stores) - Explosives - Feather Renovating - Films (see Section 501,3)_- <br />Fireworks - Gas: Poisonous irritating and flm~able - Jute - Eapok - <br />Munitions - Nava~ Stores - Nitrate of Soda - Paper. Baled Waste - Oakum <br />or Hemp Processir~ - Paints: Manufacturing - Starch M~lls - Rubber <br />Manufacturing Plants. <br /> <br /> (B) Materials or products stored or handled in quantities in <br />excess of the cubic foot areas set forth below shall be classified as <br />Greup "H" - Special Y~zardous 0ccupmncy: <br /> <br /> In Excess of <br />Acetylene Gas in pressure release containers ................. 2000 cu. ft. <br />Artificial flowers ........................................... 1200 cu. ft. <br />Artificial leather ...........................................
