IN~J~CE ~i~G SECTION 11-24 O~ ~YHE CODE OF ?HE CIT~ OF PORTS_~O~ t~IR~INZA, 1961, PERTAI~NG TO ~]~E PF~WAL%~ FOR ¥-IO- LATiON OF Y~nT~ FiRE PP~iON CODE~ Be it ordained b.v the Co~ancil of the City of Portsmouth~ Virgir~a~ that section 11-24 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, 196!~ be amended and reordained to read as follows: Sec. 11-24. Penalty for violation~ B_ny person who shall violate ealy of the pro%~isions of the Fire Prevention Code, ado~oted by section 11-19, or shall fail to cor~ply therewith, or who sb~.l! violate or fail to co~l~ with arty order made thereunder~ or who shall bu~ Id in violation of any de- tailed statement of specifications or ~leaas submitted and approved thereom_der~ or ~ny certificate or permit issued thereLunder, ~d fro~ which no appeal has been ts_ken, or who shall fail to co~ly ~t~ such an order as aff~ed or ~rodified by the City Comncil or by a coo_-~t o~ competent j~isdiction~ mlthin the time fixed there- in, shall severally for' each smd every such violation and non~ compliance, respectively, be guility of a misdemeanor p~mis~mble by a fine of not ].ess than twenty-five dollers nor more thegn one thous~uqd dollars or by Lrpriso~ment for not more than twelve months or by both such fine smd imprisonment. ~Tne %moosition of one pe~lty for sm4~ violation shall not excuse the violation or pe-~r~it it to continue; s_nd all such persons shall be required to correct or remedy such violations or defects ~gtb~in a reasonable- time; e=nd when not otherwise specified, each ten days that pro- hibited conditions are maintained sbm.!l constitute a senarate offense. ~ne application of the s~ove penalty shall not be held to prev-ent the e~orced removal of proi~bited conditions.
