AN 0RDLMA~CE TO A~.~2~D THE CODE OF T~ CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRG1]kU_&, 1961 <br />BY ADDI2~[G ~RETO A [~ SECTION N~d~'~EF~ 7-5.1 P~RTAINING TO T~Z ~'~ZS <br />AND COi~ENSATION OF ~r~ HIGH CONSTABLE ~D HIS DEPUTIES A~ND F~LOYEES. <br /> <br />Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. ~nat the Code of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, 1961, be amended by <br />adding thereto a new section numbered 7-5.1, such new section to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section 7-5.~ Fees ~and compensation of Hi~n Constable. <br /> <br /> (a) ~he High Constable shall receive such fees as are now or <br />~ay hereafter be prescribed by law for City Sergesnts. The fees collect- <br />ed by the Hi~n Constable shall be paid into the zreas~- of the city <br />regularly, but not less ths~n once a month. Ail fees ~nd cmmmissions of <br />everTy kind and character, whether payable by the Commonwealth~ the United <br />States, or by private persons, fir~m or corporations, now hereafter re- <br />ceivable by law or ordinance by the High Constable, shall contin~ to <br />be paid ~o and collected by him and shall be paid into the treasury of <br />the city, except that the city shall nov be required to pay to h~m any <br />fees or co~missions for services performed for such city. <br /> <br /> (b) The High Cormtable shall be paid a salary ou~ of the <br />treasury of the city as provided by law~ which salary shall be ~ full <br />compensation for b~is se~zices ~ shall be in lieu of the retention by <br />him of any s~nd all official fees and co~ssions of whatever kind or <br />character, ~nd from whatever s~arce derived; the expenses of his office, <br />include_rig the compensation of deputies and employees, shall be likewise <br />paid out of the treasury of the city. <br /> <br />2.
