AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING A~\D COLLgL~iNG TAX~S ON REAL ESTATE, TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERS~, AND ~4ACHIkm~Y ~ND TOOLS WIS~HIN THE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PORT~.~Ob~EH, %riRGIRrIA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING REVENUE FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE GO~.~T AMD ~E PUBLIC ~ SCHOOLS AND TO PAY INTEREST ;aND SIAqChNG FUND ON THE PUBLIC DEBT FOR Thee FISCAL Y~R B~INNING JULY !, 1969, AND ENDING JUNE 30~ 1970. Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports~Duth, Virginia: ~. For the fiscal yeal~ begirmimg July !, 1969, and. ending June 30, 1970, and for each fiscal year thereafter until samaulled by ordinance, the following tax shall be placed on real estate, tangible personal property, and mackinery and tools within the limits of the City of Portsmouth, for the purpose of raising revenue for the support of the goverr~.ent 'and the public free schools and to pay interest and sir~i~ fund on the public debt. 2. The tax on real estate for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, shall be T~o and 25/100 ($2.25) Dollars on each one hun- dred dollars assessed valuation thereof. 3. Classification of Tm~gible Persor~l Property: (a) The followir~ shall be classified as Tsangible Personal Propertyand taxes at the rate of Four ($4.00) Dollars on each one hundred dollars assessed valuation thereof.' (1) The aggregate number of horses, mules and other kindred spirants and the value thereof. (2) The number of cattle and the value thereof. (3) ~ne ~dmber of sheep and goats ~ the value thereof. (~) The number of hogs and the value thereof. (5) ~ne sggregate number and value of all auto- mobiles~ motor trucks~ motorcycles ~nd all other motor vehicles, except any vehicle without motive power used or designed to be used as a ~bi!e hem_e or office or for other means of D~bitation by any person. _
