AN O~DINAN~E TO AMEND SECTION 2-36 OF <br />THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1961, PERTAINING TO LEGAL <br />HOLIDAYS FOR CITY EMPLOYEES. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the ~ity bf <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> t. That Section 2-36 of the Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended and reordained <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-36. Legal holidays---Generally. <br /> <br /> The following days are designated as legal <br />holidays for all employees of the city, except police- <br />men and firefighters and those engaged in such employment <br />as necessarilF require their daily services, and for all <br />state officers performing duties for the city: New Year's <br />Day, George Washing=on Day, Memorial Day, independence Day, <br />Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksglving Day and Christmas <br />Day; provided, however, that whenever any of the afore- <br />said holidays shall fall on a Saturday, they shall be <br />observed on the preceding Friday; and whenever they shall <br />fall on a Sunday, they shall be observed on the following <br />Monday. <br /> <br /> No other holidays shall be observed by either <br />state employees partly engaged on city work or by city <br />employees, except when special occasions are authorized <br />by the city manager. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />V~rginia, at a m ..... g held January 12; 1971. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br /> <br />
