AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 10-128 AND 10-129 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961~ PERTAIN- ING TO MEMBERSHIP OF T~E PORTSMOUTH TAX STUDY COMMISSION. Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: t. That Sections 10-128 and 10-129 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended and reord&ined to read as follows: Sec. 10-128. Portsmouth Tax Study Commission. There is hereby created a commission to be known as the ~ortsmouth Tax Study Commission which shall consist of nine members. The members of the Commission shall be residents of tke city. The Commission members shall be appointed By the Council. Of those so appointedr at least two shall be employees of the City, and at least five shall be private citizens. Sec. 10-129. Terms of members; vacancies; com- pensation. The terms of the members shall begin on July 1, 1970~ Of the original Commission, two of the members shall be appointed for a term of one year~ two for a term of two years, and three for a term of three years. The Council shall appoint two additional members, one for a term to expire on July 1, 1971, an~ one ~or a term to expire on July 1, 1972. At the expiration of the respective terms, their successors shall be appointed for terms of three years. They shall hold office ~uring their respective terms and until their successors are appointed and qualified. All vacancies shall be filled by appointment by the Council for the remainder of the unexpired term° All members of the board shall serve as such without compensation. 2.
