AN ORDIi~NCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, <br />1961, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 10-75, 10-76 AND 10-77 THEREOF, PER- <br />TAINING TO REMOVALS; AND BY ADDING THERETO THREE NEW SECTIONS <br />NU~'~ERED 19-86, 19-87, AND 19-88, PERTAINING TO REMOVALS. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That Sections 10-75, 10-76 and 10-77 of the Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be and the same hereby are re- <br />pealed. <br /> <br /> 2. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be <br /> amended by adding thereto three new sections numbered 19-86, <br /> 19-87, 19-88, such new sections to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Sec. 19-86. Removals-Reports; from whom re- <br /> quired; when required, form and <br /> content; display. <br /> <br /> Every person owning, operating, or renting any moving <br />van, truck, trailer, wagon or other vehicle which shall be used <br />to haul or move household goods, furniture or personal effects <br />from place to place within the city or from any place within the <br />city, shall, prior to any such removal, make a report thereof to <br />the chief of police on forms provided by the chief of police. <br />Such report shall contain a general description of the property <br />to be moved, the name and address of the owner of such property, <br />the address from which and to which the property is to be moved, <br />the date of such removal and such other information as is deem- <br />ed reasonable and necessary. A copy of such report shall be <br />affixed to and prominently displayed on the windshield or other <br />prominent area of the vehicle used for such removal. <br /> Forms, in strictly controlled numbers, shall be dis- <br />tributed by the chief of police to licensed movers who shall <br />make use of and account for the same. <br /> <br />Sec. 19-87. Removals-Exemptions. <br /> <br /> The provisions of Section 19-86 shall not apply to <br />nor shall any report be required of the removal of tangible <br />personal property used in manufacturing or processing, or used <br />mn the ordinary course of business. The provisions of Section <br />19-84 shall not apply to the removal of the personal property <br />of any transient guest temporarily residing at any hotel, motel <br />Or inn. <br /> <br /> <br />
