D2[ OPdDI[3ANCE TO AME![D THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GI?,/IA, 1961, BY ~IE~TDI~G SECTIONS 18-43.2, 18-61 AND 18-126 <br />THEREOF PERTAINING TO I[~[PROPER DRIVING, KEEP TO THE RIGHT IN <br />CROSSING INTERSECTIONS OR P~XILROADS, PARKING I~ FROI[T OF FIRE <br />2[YDRANT, NEAR STREET CORNER, FIRE STATION, ETC. <br /> <br /> }~EREAS, the City of Portsmouth is authorized to en- <br />act as ordinances certain statutes from the Code of Virginia, <br />provided such ordinances are substantially consistent w~th <br />the state law~ and <br /> <br />Wn~R~=S, the General Assembly of Virgznla at its <br />1972 sessmon amended certain of these statutes of the Code <br /> Ym~gmnla, 1950; and <br /> <br /> ~iEREAS~ it is therefore necessary to amend certazn <br />sections of the Code of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, 1961 <br />so as to make said sections conform to the changes in the Code <br />of Virginia enacted by the General Assembly at its 1972 session. <br /> <br /> z~O,~, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1961 be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 18-43.2. Improper driving. <br /> <br /> Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of thisdi~_ <br />~'~ upon the trial of any person charged with a violation <br />thereof where the degree of culpability is slight, the court in <br />its discretion may find the accused not guilty of reckless <br />driving but guilty of improper driving and impose a fine not <br />to exceed five hundred dollars. <br /> <br />Section 18-61. Keep to the right in crossing intersections <br /> or railroads. <br /> <br /> Except as otherwise provided by law, in crossing an <br />intersection of highways or the intersection of a highway by <br />a railraod right of way, the driver of a vehicle shall at <br />all times cause such vehicle to travel on the right half of <br />the highway unless such right side is obstructed or impassable. <br /> <br />Section 18-126. Parking in front of fire hydrant, near street <br /> corner, fire station, etc. <br /> <br /> No person shall park a vehicle or permit it to stand, <br />whether attended or unattended, upon a highway in front of a <br /> <br /> <br />
