a weight exceedinq four thousand pounds, other than a motorcycle, <br />designed and used for'the transportation of passengers not for <br />compensation, when the same are issued after the fifteenth day of <br />October in any license year, shall be six dollars and fifty cents. <br /> <br />Section 18-330. Operation of vehicle without license; evidence <br /> of operation by owner. <br /> <br /> Any person who operates or any owner who permits to be <br />operated a vehicle upon the streets o~ the city without:first <br />procuring the license required by this article shall be guilty <br />of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by <br />a fine of not less than fifty dollars nor more than five hundred <br />dollars~ or by imprisonment in jail for a period not to exceed <br />six months, or both. <br /> <br /> The finding of any vehicle on any of the streets, alleys, <br />lanes or public places of the city, without a proper license plate <br />or decal attached thereto shall be prima facie evidence that such <br />vehicle was operated in the city by the owner thereof. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth~ Vir- <br />ginia, at a meeting held June 27, 1972. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
