AN ORDINANCE TO A~ND THE CODE OF TEE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 37.1-4 and 37.1-41 THEREOF AND BY AMEND- ING SECTIONS 37.1-2 AN~ 37.1-39 THEREOF; SO AS TO ABOLISH PRECINCT NO. 3 AND THE VOTING PLACE THEREIN, COMBINE PRECINCT NO. 3 WITH PRECINCT NO. 1, AND TO RE-DESIGNATE A VOTING PLACE FOR THE COMBINED PRECINCT. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended by repealing Sections 37.1-4 and 37.1-41 thereof. 2. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended by amending Sections 37.1~2 and 37.1-39, such amended sections to read as follows: Section 37.1-2. Precinct No. 1. The boundaries of Precinct No. 1 shall be as follows: Beginning at a point where the center line of High Street projected easterly into the Elizabeth River (Southern Branch) intersects the eastern boundary line of the city; thence northerly along the said eastern boundary line of the city to its intersection with the southern boundary line of the United States Naval Hospital property; thence westerly along the south- ern boundary line of the Naval Hospital property to the point where that boundary ~ine intersects the center line of Naval Avenue; thence continuing westerly along the center line of Naval Avenue to its intersection with the center line of Hatton Street; thence southerly along the center line of Hatton Street to its intersection with the center line of High Street; thence easterly along the center line of High Street to its intersection with the center line of Chestnut Street; thence southerly along the center line of Chestnut Street to its intersection with the center line of Brighton Street as extended into Chestnut Street; thence easterly along the center line of Brighton Street to its intersection with the center line of Washington Street; thence northerly along the center line of Washington Street to its in- tersection with the channel of Gander Creek, such creek passing under Washington Street through a culvert; thence easterly the channel of Gander Creek to th~ ~a~ boundary of the city in Elizabeth River (Southern Branch); thence northerly along the said eastern boundary of the city to its intersection with the center line of High Street as projected into said river, this point being the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING.
