AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A MECHANICAL CODE FOR THE CITY OF PORTS- <br />MOUTH, WHICH PRESCRIBES PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF ITS PROVI- <br />SIONS, AND REPEALING, WITH CERTAIN LIMITATIONS AND EXCEPTIONS, <br />ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES OF A GENERAL NATURE IN <br />CONFLICT WITH THE PROVISIONS THEREOF. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />Section 1. That each and every of the provisions relating to <br />the ~nstallation of mechanical systems, including alterations, <br />repairs, replacement, equipment, appliances, fixtures, fittings <br />and/or appurtenances thereto, including ventilating, heating, <br />cooling, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, incinerators, <br />and other energy-related systems in the City of Portsmouth and <br />the fees therefor and penalties for violations, set forth in the <br />Southern Standard Mechanical Code, 1973 edition, are hereby in- <br />corporated by reference and made a part of this ordinance as if <br />fully set forth herein; provided that Section 102.1 shall be <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 102.1. Mechanical Official <br /> <br />There is hereby established in the Department <br />of Building Inspection, a division of mechani- <br />cal inspection under the direction of the Di- <br />rector of Inspections and the official so <br />designated by him. Whenever the mechanical <br />official is mentioned in this Code, it shall <br />be taken to mean the official designated by <br />the Director of Inspections. <br /> <br /> Copies of such mechanical code shall be kept on file <br />available for viewing in the office of the Building Official of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Third Floor, Municipal Building, No. 1 <br />High Street, Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br />Section 2. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances of a gen- <br />eral nature in conflict with the provisions of said mechanical <br />code are hereby repealed as of the effective date of this ordi- <br />nance, but said repeal, however, shall not effect any act or of- <br />fense done or committed, or any penalty, forfeiture or punishment <br />incurred, or any right accruing or accrued, or acquired or es- <br />tablished before the day upon which the provisions of said me- <br />chanical code shall take effect, or any prosecution, suit or <br />proceeding pending on that day. <br /> <br /> <br />
