AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GINIA, 1961, BY AMENDING SECTION 24'1 PERTAINING TO THE SPEED <br />LIMITS UPON RAILROADS LYING WITHIN THE CITY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 24-1 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Section 24-1. Speed limits. <br /> <br /> No engine, car or other vehicle shall be drawn <br />or propelled upon any railroad in or across any street lying <br />within the area of the following districts, at a greater rate <br />of speed than that hereafter stated for that particular district, <br />namely: <br /> <br /> (1) In District 1 described as that portion of <br />the City lying between Godwin Street on the West, the City <br />boundary on the South, and the Elizabeth River on the North <br />and East, twelve miles per hour. <br /> <br /> (2) In District 2, described as that portion of <br />the City lying between Douglas Avenue on the West, the Elizabeth <br />River on the North, Godwin Street on the East and the City <br />boundary on the South, twenty miles per hour. <br /> <br /> (3) In District 3, described as that portion of <br />the City lying between the Western Branch of the Elizabeth <br />River on the North, Douglas Avenue on the East, and the City <br />boundaries on the West and South, twenty-five miles per hour. <br /> <br /> (4) In District 4, described as that portion of <br />the 'City lying northwest of the Western Branch of the Elizabeth <br />River, fifteen miles per hour. <br /> <br /> 2.
