AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 37A-19 and 37A-20 THEREOF TO INCREASE RATES FOR METER SERVICE AND"WA~ER SERVICE. BE IT ORDAINED.by th~ Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: i. That Sections 37A-i9 and 37A-20 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, I961, be amended and reordained to read as follows: Section 37A-19. Meter service charges. The meter service charges set out in the following ta-~- shall be paid by water consumers for the several sizes of meters, which service charge is to be paid in addition to the charge for the amount of water which passes through the meter. This service charge shall be paid for each of the premises whose occupants take water from the service pipe: 5/8 inch meter 3/4 inch meter 1 inch meter i 1/2 inch meter 2 inch meter 3 inch meter 4 inch meter 6 inch meter 8 inch meter 10 inch meter service charge ....... service charge service charge service charge service charge service charge service charge 1.O0 per month ...... 2.00 per month ..... 4.00 per month ...... 8.00 per month ...... 16.OO per month ...... 32.00 per month ...... 50.00 per month service charge ...... 120.OO per month service charge ...... 200.00 per month service charge ...... 300.00 per month No water will be allowed for service charge. Section 32A-20. Meter rates for water supply. (a) For all water which passes through the meters, the consumers within the corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth and within the City of suffolk service area shall pay a rate of fifty cents per 1OOO gallons (or thirty seven and one-half cents per 100 cubic feet) of water supplied. (b) For all water which passes through the meters, the consumers outside the corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth and the City of Suffolk service area shall pay the rate of seventy five cents per 1OO0 gallons (or fifty-six and one-quarter cents per 100 cubic feet) of water supplied. 2. This ordinance shall take effect from and after August 13, 1973.
