effective date of the member's retirement or the date of written notification to the board of retirement of the member, revoke such an election by written notification to the board. Section 26-42. Payment of death benefits. Ail lump sum payments failing due under this article upon the death of a meraber or former member shall be paid to such person or person%~ if any, as the mermber shall have designated to be the beneficiary thereof, otherwise to the executors or admini- strators of the member. Any such beneficiary designation shall be made in writing and filed with the board in such manner as may be required by the board. Any such designation may be changed from time to time by the member by his filing with the board a new written designation. Section 26-46~ Social Security benefits. (a) If a m~mber or beneficiary does not qualify for, or iosesr primary Social Security benefits to which he is entitled under the Social Security Act because of his failure to make appli- cation therefor, entering into covered employment or otherwise~ such primary Social Sec~ity benefits shall nevertheless be con- sidered as being received by such member or beneficiary for 'the purpose of this article. (b) If in the determination of tine amount of any re- tirement allowance payable under any of the provisions of this article it ~s necessary that the amount of the actual Social Se- curity benefit of a member or of the beneficiary of a member be ~own~ it shall be the responsibility of such m~mber or such beneficiary to supply such information to the board on request~ If such information is not supplied when requested, the board may ~.ake such reasonable assumptions as it deems proper as to the amount of such Social Security benefit° 1973.
