above or both r then the employer will contribute to the assets from <br />time to time, as and when required, the amount necessary to make up <br />such insufficiency. <br /> <br /> (d) The allocation of assets of the system provided <br />for in subsection (c} of this section shall be carried out through <br />the payment by the board of the benefits provided for in this <br />section as they become due, or by the transfer of such assets to <br />any retirement system replacing this system; provided, that such <br />vesting of benefits as provided by this section shall be fully <br />maintained under ~uch new retirement system. Any funds remain- <br />ing in the assets of this system after all of the vested benefits <br />provided by this section have been paid shall revert to the gen- <br />eral fund. <br /> <br /> (e) Any allocation of assets made in accordance with <br />the provisions of this section shall be final and binding on all <br />persons entitled to benefits under such provisions. <br /> <br />Section 26-20. Period of membership; cessation of membership. <br /> <br /> (a) Each employee who becomes a member of the system <br />shall continue to be a member so long as he r~ains an employee <br />and so long thereafter as he is entitled to future benefits under <br />any provision of the system. Not in limitation but in amplifica- <br />tion of the foregoing, the membership of any person in the system <br />shall cease: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Upon his termination of service as an em- <br />ployee, other than by retirement, before <br />he has both attained the age of fifty and <br />completed at least twenty years of credit- <br />able service, provided, however, that for <br />purposes of this section the entrance of <br />a m~mber into authorized leave of absence <br />shall not constitute termination of service <br />as an employee provided the member re-enters <br />service as an employee at the expiration of <br />the period of authorized leave, and the en- <br />trance of a member into the Armed Forces of <br />the United States shall not constitute termi- <br />nation of service as an employee provided <br />the me~er's service in such Armed Forces <br />qualifies as creditable service under section <br />26-24; or <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Upon the cessation of his retirement allow- <br />ance~ unless in suck event he i~ediately <br />again becomes an employee; or <br /> <br />{3) Upon his death. <br /> <br />-4- <br /> <br /> <br />
