AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA~ <br />1973, BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION NUMBERED 35-225.1 PERTAINING <br />TO THE ELIGIBILITY FOR TAX EX~4PTIONS FOR CERTAIN ELDERLY PERSONS. <br /> <br />Virginia: <br /> <br />Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br /> <br />1973, <br />such <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia~ <br /> be amended by adding thereto a new section numbered 35-225.1 <br />new section to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 35-225.1. Continuation of exemptions for <br /> persons previously certified. <br /> <br /> (a) Any person certified as eligible for an exemption <br />pursuant to Section 35-222 for the final two quarters of fiscal <br />year 1973-74 may be certified as eligible for an exemption for all <br />of fiscal year 1974-75, notwithstanding the filing deadline set <br />forth in Section 35-225, if the conditmons set forth hereinafter <br />are met. <br /> <br /> (b) Any person seeking an exemption pursuant to this <br />section shall file all documents required by Section 35-225 with <br />the director not later than November 1, 1974. All such documents <br />must be in the form required by the aforesaid section and must es- <br />tablish eligibility as of July 1, 1974. <br /> <br /> (c) If the applicant under this section is other- <br />wise qualified for a tax exemption and has filed a proper appli- <br />cation prmor to November 1, 1974, the director shall certify the <br />eligibility of such applicant effective July 1, 1974. <br /> <br /> 2.
