AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF AN ALLEY LOCATED WEST OF THE <br />INTERSECTION OF LECKIE STREET AND PENINSULA AVEN-JE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mrs. J. R. Austin, ~Z~s. C. C~ Williams and <br />Mr. Frank B~ Baker, Jr., have made application to vacate, close <br />and discontinue the hereinafter described portion of an alley <br />near Leckie Street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ by resolution of this Council, adopted Aug- <br />ust 27t 1974, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1- <br />364 of the Code of Virgznia, 1950, as amended, to view the <br />hereinafter described portion of the said street, and to re- <br />port in writing whether, in their opinion, any, and if any, <br />what inconvenience would result from discontinuing the below <br />described street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing <br />that, in their opinion, no inconvenience would result from <br />closing and discontinuing said street. <br /> <br /> NOW, THt~REFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that that portion of an unnamed <br />alley near Leckie Street and Peninsula Avenue hereinafter des- <br />cribed, be closed and vacated as a public street. <br /> <br /> Ail that certain piece or parcel of land, <br />being a part of a 26 foot alley sho~n on the <br />Plat of Harry L. Alexander, which plat is of <br />record in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit <br />Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in <br />Map Book 1, page 33, and being bounded and <br />described as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point 112 feet west of the <br />southwest intersection of Leckie Street (for- <br />merly Sale Street) and Peninsula Avenue (for- <br />merly Wilson Avenue), as measured along the <br />south line of Leckie Street~ and from thence <br />running south along the west line of Lots 48, <br />49 and 50 on said plat and the east line of <br />said 26 foot alley a distance of 120 feet to <br />a point; thence west and parallel with Leckie <br />Street a distance of 26 feet to a point; thence <br />north along the east line of Lots 82~ 83 and <br />84 on said plat and the west line of said 26 <br />foot alley a distance of 120 feet to the south <br />line of Leckie Street where it intersects with <br /> <br /> <br />
