AN ORDINANCE TO A~ND SECTIONS 37-65 AND 37-66 OF THE CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, 1973, AS AMENDED, PERTAINING TO THE <br />DEFINITION OF WAITING TIME AND THE RATES ESTABLISHED FOR TAXi- <br />CABS. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the C~t~ of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 37-65 and 37-66, Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 37-65. Waiting Time Defined. <br /> <br /> As used in this division, the term "waiting time" <br />shall include the time consumed while the taxicab is stopped <br />or moving at a speed less than twelve miles per hour. "Wait- <br />ing Time" shall also include the time when a taxicab is not <br />in motion~ beginning with the time of arrival at the place <br />to which it is called but excluding time consumed by the pre- <br />mature response to calls° <br /> <br />Section 37-66. Rates established. <br /> <br /> No person owning, operating, driving or controlling <br />a taxicab within the limits of the City shall charge an amount <br />to exceed the following rates of fare: <br /> <br />(a) For the first one-sixth (1/6) mile <br /> or fraction thereof .............. $0.80 <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />For each one-sixth (1/6) mile or <br />fraction thereof in addition to <br />the first one-sixth (1/6) mile <br /> <br />0.10 <br /> <br />(c) For each piece of baggage other <br /> than one handbag per passenger ... 0.25 <br /> <br />(d) <br /> <br />For each package unless passen- <br />ger transports package to and <br />from cabs and holds package on <br />lap in transit ................... <br /> <br />0.10 <br /> <br />(e) For each foot locker or trunk .... 0.50 <br /> <br />(f) For each one minute of waiting <br /> time or fraction thereof ......... 0.10 <br /> <br /> <br />
