AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 6-1 and 6-2 OF THE CODE OF T~tE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, PERTAINING TO THE ADOPTION ? OF TIIE VIRGINIA UNIFORM STATEW!DE BUILDING CODE. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Ports- mouth, Virginia: 1. That Section 6-1 of the Code of the City of Ports- mouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained to read as follows: Section 6-1. Code Adopted. There is hereby adopted by the City for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the construction, alteration, repair, removal, demolition, equipment, use and occupancy of buildings and structures, including permits and penalties, that certain building code known as the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and the 1975 Accumulative Sup- .p!ement to the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, and the amendments thereto, save and except such portions as are hereafter amended or deleted, as permitted in the enabling legislation, and the same are hereby adopted as the building cede of the City as fully as if set out at length herein and the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the corpo- rate lim/ts of the City. 2. That Section 6-2 of the Code of the City of Ports- mouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained to read as fol- lows: Section 6-2. Buildings and Structures Included. Ail buildings, structures including but not limited to tanks, piers, wharves, and bulkheads and installations includ- ing but not limited to piping systems, towers, mechanical systems and vertical transportation systems shall be in accordance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. 3. This ordinance shall take effect from the t5th day of January, 1976. Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- ginia, at a meeting held January 13, 1976. Teste: City Clerk
