AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CIT~ OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, BY ~tNG SECI'£ONS 40-93 and 40-102(a) AND 40-102(j) THEREOF, PER~AINLNG TO HISTORIC DISTRICTS. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Sections 40-93 and 40-102(a) and 40-102(j) of the Code of the City of Ports~Duth, Virginia, 1973, be ~ended to read as follows: Section 40-93. District created; beun~ries of district. In order to execute the purposes and objectives declared in Section 40-92, there is hereby created in the City a district to be known as the "Historic District". The boundaries of such district are sho%~ on a map entitled "Historic District" which shall be filed and mainta/ned in the same manner required by Section 40-18 of this Chapter for other zoning maps. The terms "Olde Towne" and "Cradock" are found in the National Registrar of Historic Places and referred to on the Zoning Ordinance Map. The term "Towne Square Historic District" is found on the document referred to as "PHD-77-2", dated June 1977, as adopted by the Council. Section 40-102. Historic District and Subdistricts; build/ng regulations. (a) The Historic District shall contain one or more of the following sub~istricts which shall be establis~led by the denomination as such on the Historic District Map: (1) Historic Residential. (2) Historic L~mited Office. (3) Historic L~mited Business. (4) Historic Downtown Business. Section 40-102 (j). Historic downtown bns~ness; the following regulations shall apply to such Historic Downtown Business Districts as are established: (1) Uses shall be limited to those allowed in the C~a~ercial C-3 Zoning District as prescribed in and for that Zoning District.
