AN ORDIAZAA~2E TO AMEND S~CTtON 38-42 OF THE CODE OF THE CIT~ OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />1973, AS AMENDED, PERTA/NING TO THE PAS~5~qT OF BILLS G~FERAI,I,Y.. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAIAK~ by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that Section 38-42 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, <br />as amended, is ~r~nded and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec%ion 38-42. Payment of bills generally. <br /> <br /> Ail quarterly accounts shall be billed on a cycle of approximately <br />ninety (90) days. Bills for water supplied ~n suc~h division, including <br />charges for sewage disposal service and utility taxes based thereon, if <br />any~ are due and payable upon presentation. <br /> <br /> If the payment is not received by the due date set forth on such bill, <br />a late charge of one and one-half (1-1/2%) percent per month %~ill be added <br />to such bill. If such bill is not paid within 15 days frc~a said due date, <br />the service may be discontinued without further no%ice. <br /> <br /> Pa5 ~eent of such bills shall be made at the office of the depaz~/ment <br />of public utilities on the days and during the hours thereof ~he office <br />is open for business, or such payment may be made at any collection <br />agency established by the director of public utilities for %hat purpose <br />on the days and during the hours thereof ~ach collection agencies are <br />open for business. <br /> <br /> Payment of such bills at collection agencies and regulations and <br />accounting procedures pertaining thereto shall be as prescribed by ~he <br />director of public utilities. Each collection agency shall be bonded <br />in the amount of two thousand dollars ($2,000.CO) and the bond con~ract <br />of appointment shall be approved as to fora by the city attorney. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the Cit~7 of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a <br />meeting held May 30, 1978. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
