1980-12 AN ORDINANCE TO _%MEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, V~RG]~IA, BY ~4ENDIN~ SECTION 40-139(a), (4), PERTAIN/NG TO ~£E.~FRONT W-1 DISTRICT C~F-STREET A~BtLE PARKING. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virg/nia, that Section 40-139(a), (~4) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, 1973, be a~nde~, to read as follows: Section 40-139 (a) (4). Off-street autceobile parking. Use of Buildings Minimum Number of P~king~ Spaces Residential 1.25 spaces for each dwelling unit or parking in a public parking facility within 750 feet of the site oontaining spaces /n the same ratio. Hotels, ~tels space for each of first 20 sleeping rooms, plus 1 space for each 4 rooms over 20 or parking in a public parking facility within 750 feet of the site containing spaces in the same ratio. Office or profes- sional buildings On-site parking in the ratio of 1 space for each 200 s~uare feet of office space ~ith a minin~a of 5 spaces or parking in a public psrking facility within_ 750 feet of the site containing spaces in the sams ratio. General retail busi- ness, c~src~/al and Dersona! service es- tablish~ents On-site parking in the ratio of at least 2.5 spaces per 1,000 square feet of usable floor ~space, exclusive of storage or stock area or p~rking in a ~ublic parking facility within 750 feet of the site contaiDing spaces in the same ratio. Open space tsnd uses such as marinas a~ recreation areas Ad_equate spaces as determined ~y the planning c~ission after the submission of site plan or parking in a public parking facility within 750 f~et of t_he site containing spaces in the same ratio.
