AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 38-34 AND 38-34.1 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, PERTAINING TO <br />METER RATES FOR WATER SUPPLY AND EMERGENCY SURCHARGE THEREON. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections ~8~34 and 38-34.1 of the Code of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Vlr'glnla, be amended and reordained to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 38-34. Meter rates for water supply. <br /> <br /> (a) For all water which passes through the ~eters, the <br />consumers within the corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth <br />and within the Old City of Suffolk service area served by <br />contract shall pay a rate of eighty-three cents ($0.83) per one <br />thousand (tO00) gallons or sixty_ two and one-quarter cents <br />($0°6225) per one hundred ~100) cubic feet of water supplied° <br /> <br /> (b) For all water which passes through the me%ers to <br />the City of Chesapeake pursuant to contract, the City of <br />Chesapeake shall pay seventy eight cents ($0.78) per one <br />thousand (~,O00) gallons or fifty-eiqht and one-half cents <br />($0.5850) per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> ~c) For all water which passes through the meters, the <br />constnuers in the City of Suffolk outside of the Old City of <br />Suffolk service area served by contract shall pay the rate <br />of one dollar and twenty-four and one-half cents ($1.245) per <br />one thousand (I,O00) gallons or ninety-three and thirty- <br />seven and one-half hundredths cents ($0.93375) per one hundred <br />cubic feet of %~ater supplied. <br /> <br /> (d~ The rates prescribed herein will be reflected in <br />bills rendered after ~uly 1, 1981. <br /> <br />Section 38-34.1. Emergency Surcharge. <br /> <br /> In addition to the charges upon all consumers supplied <br />with water by the department of public utilities provided for <br />in this chapter there is hereby imposed an eraergency drought <br />surcharge of twelve cents ~$0.12) per one thousand (1000) <br />gallons or nine cents ($0.09) per one hundred (100) cubic <br />feet of water supplied. The emergency surcharge will be <br />reflected in all bills rendered after July 1, 1981, and will <br />remain in effect until repealed by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br />(100) <br /> <br /> <br />
