AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF THORNE AVENUE. <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, Holy Trinity Church ha's made application <br />vacate ~nd close s certain portion of Thorne Avenue; and <br /> <br /> ~E~EREAS, by resolution adop.ted by this Council on <br />February 24, 1981, viewers were appointed pursuant to §15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter- <br />described portions of said streetr and to report in writing <br />whether in their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience <br />would result fr~ discontinuing the said portion of Thorne <br />Avenue~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that <br />in their opinion no inconvenience would result from the closing <br />and dgi~.onclnuln, of said portlon of Thorne Avenue. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFOr, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Por'hsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter-described portion <br />of Thorne Avenue be closed and vacated as a public street. <br /> <br />THORNE AVENUE <br /> <br /> All that section of Thorne Avenue beginning <br />at ~ point ~i5' west of the west right=of-way line <br />of Main Street and continuing westerly for a dis- <br />tance of 154' to the rear lot line of Academy Park <br />properties fronting on DeKalb Avenue. (S-81-I). <br /> <br /> AN~ BE iT FURTHER ORDAINE~ that the same is h~reby <br />closed and vacated as a public street, and that the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, reserves unto itself perpetual easements, <br />rights-of-way and privileges to install, maintain, operate <br />and replace sanitary sewers, sewer mains, sewer drains and <br />storm sewers within, over, under and across the hereinabove- <br />described property. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held March 24, 1981. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
