AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, <br />1973, BY AMENDING ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 16 THEREOF PERTAINING TO <br />THE COOL'UNITY MENTAL HEALTH AND MENTAL RETARDATION SERVICES BOARD. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, <br />be amended by amending Article III of Chapter 16 of said Code, <br />such amended Article to read as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE III. COMMUNITY SERVICES BOARD <br /> <br />Section 16-39. Community Services Board Established. <br /> <br /> The Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services <br />Board of the City is hereby renamed as the Community Services <br />Board. <br /> <br />Section 16-40. Composition. <br /> <br /> The Community Services Board shall consist of not less than <br />five (5) nor more than fifteen (15) members~appointed by the <br />City Council. <br /> <br />Section 16-41. Term of ~embers. <br /> <br /> The term of office of each member of the Community Services <br />Board shall be for three (3) years from the first day of July of <br />the year of appointment; provided, however, the members to <br />be appointed as successors for terms currently expiring on <br />December 31st of any year, shall be appointed for a term of <br />three and one-half (3-1/2)years so as te expire on June <br />30th. <br /> <br />Section 16-42. Vacancies. <br /> <br /> Vacancies on the Community Services Board shall be filled <br />for unexpired terms in the same manner as original appointments. <br />No person shall be eligible to serve more than two [2) successive <br />terms; provided that any persons heretofore or hereafter appointed <br />to fill vacancies may serve two additional successive terms. <br /> <br />Section 16-43. Removal of members. <br /> <br /> Any member of the Community Services Board may be removed <br />by the appointing authority for cause after being given a <br />written statement of the causes and an opportunity to be heard <br />thereon. <br /> <br /> <br />
