AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 14-39 AND 14-40 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, PERTAINING TO <br />REFUSE COLLECTION FEES. <br /> <br /> BE iT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginla: <br /> <br /> I. That Sections 14-39 and 14-40 of the Code of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 14-39. Rates for Dwelling' Units and Certain Other <br /> Establishments. <br /> <br /> The service charge for the collection and disposal of trash <br />and garbage from any dwelling unit and any other establishment <br />not subject to the charges imposed by Section 14-40 or 14-41 <br />shall be at the rate of four dollars ($4.00) per month per dwelling <br />unit or, in the case of such other establishments, at the rate <br />of four dollars ($4.00) per month for each such other establishment. <br />The charges imposed under this section shall be billed with the <br />statement rendered for water and sewer charges. <br /> <br />Section 14-40. Rates for Standard Containers. <br /> <br /> (a) Where garbage and refuse are stored in thirty-two <br />(32) gallon containers, or the equivalent thereof, the charge <br />for each three (3) month period shall be based upon the volume <br />of refuse normally generated for the particular class of business, <br />and the rates shall be as follows: <br /> <br />Collections <br /> per week <br /> <br />Standard containers <br /> per collection <br /> <br />Minimum Charge <br /> per quarter <br /> <br />2 O to 4 $ 12.00 <br />2 5 to 8 24.00 <br />2 9 to 12 36.00 <br /> <br />3 O to 4 20.00 <br />3 5 to 8 40.00 <br />3 9 to 12 60.00 <br /> <br />4 0 to 4 28.00 <br />4 5 to 8 56.00 <br />4 9 to 12 84.00 <br /> <br />5 O to 4 36.00 <br />5 5 to 8 72.00 <br />5 9 to 12 108.00 <br /> <br />6 0 to 4 44.00 <br />6 5 to 8 88.00 <br />6 9 to 12 132.O0 <br /> <br /> <br />
