AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 9-21 AND 9-25, AND <br />BY REPEALING SECTIONS 9-20 AND 9-68 THEREOF, SO AS TO <br />ALTER THE EXISTING BOUNDARIES OF PRECINCTS 5 AND 9, AND <br />TO ABOLISH PRECINCT 4 MAKING SAME A PART OF PRECINCT'5; <br />BY AMENDING SECTIONS 9-47 AND 9-48 AND BY ADDING TWO NEW <br />SECTIONS. 9-44.1 AND 9-92.1 SO AS TO ALTER THE EXISTING <br />BOUND-~--RIES OF PRECINCTS 32 AND 33 AND TO CREA~E A NEW <br />PRECINCT TO BE NUMBERED 29 AND TO DESIGNATE A VOTING <br />PLACE T~EREFOR. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginiar <br /> <br /> t. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1973, be ~ended by amending Sections 9-21, 9-25, 9-47 and <br />9-48, and by adding thereto two new sections to be numbered <br />9-44.1 and 9-92.1, such amended and new sections to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Section 9-21. Precinct.No. 5. <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point where the center line of the <br />downtown tunnel intersects with the eastern boundar~ line <br />of the City; thence westerly along~said tunnel center line <br />and its prolongation to the center line of Interstate Route <br />264; thence continuing westerly along the center line o~ <br />Interstate Route 264 to its interchange with Effinqham <br />Street; thence south along the center line of Effingh~m <br />Street to the center line of Randolph Street; thence westerly <br />along the center line of Randolph Street to the cente~ line <br />of Elm Avenue; thence south along the center line of Elm <br />Avenue to the center line of Portsmouth Boulevard; thence <br />southeasterly along the center line of Portsmouth Boulevard <br />to the center line of George Washington ~ighway; thence <br />westerly along the center .line of George Washington Highway <br />to its intersection with the center line of Elm Avenue; <br />thence southerly and easterly along the center line of Elm <br />Avenue to the southern branch of the Elizabeth River at the <br />eastern boundary line of the City; thence north along <br />said City corporate line to the center line of the downtown <br />tunnel, t~e point of beginning. <br /> <br />Section 9-25.
