AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, AMENDING CHAPTER 29 THEREOF BY ADDING <br />ARTICLE VI ENTITLED FALSE CRIMINAL ACTIVITY ALARMS. <br /> <br /> BE tT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia~ <br /> <br /> i. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1973, as amended, be amended by adding thereto, Article VI <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE VI. FALSE CRIMINAL ACTIVITY ALARMS <br /> <br />Section 29-76. False Alarm Fees. <br /> <br /> No service charge shall be imposed <br />of a false alarm. A service charge of t <br />($35.00) shall be imposed for each subse <br />occurrence; except that where it is demo <br />of Police that a false atarm was generated by adverse weather <br />conditions, electrical or telephonic power failures, and other <br />causes, including equmpment malfunctions, not resulting from <br />the negligence of the alarm user, his/her agents and employees, <br />a service charge shall not be assessed.
