WHEREAS, the authorities and personnel of the Norfolk Naval Ship- <br /> <br /> yard, Portsmouth, Virginia, have given freely of their time, efforts and money <br /> <br /> to afford lights, trees and other Yuletide displays, and have permitted the <br /> <br /> general public to view the decorations within the several shops; and <br /> <br /> WHERFAS, the authorities and personnel of the Portsmouth Naval Hos- <br /> <br />pital have likewise cooperated in the project of creating a gigantic display <br /> <br />upon the hospital building now under construction; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the aforesaid decorations have been enjoyed by the citizens <br /> <br />of the City of Portsmouth and have evidenced a high order of civic pride and <br /> <br />good will on the part of Navy Department personnel assigned to the said facili- <br /> <br />ties. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br /> <br />Virginia, that the appreciation of the citizens of this City for Yuletide dis- <br /> <br />plays exhibited by the Naval Shipyard and Naval Hospital be hereby expressed and <br /> <br />conveyed to all those persons who took part therein. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon <br /> <br />the minutes of this Council and a copy thereof be presented to the Commanding <br /> <br />Officers of the Naval Shipyard and Naval Hospital. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meet- <br /> <br />ing held on December 29, 1959. <br /> <br /> <br />
