~HEREAS, a special election has been called for May 3, 1960~ upon <br />the question of abolishing councilmanic primaries and Section 3 of Chap- <br />ter X of the City Charter provides for the mailing to qualified voters <br />of printed copies of arguments with respect to the issue, subject to <br />certain provisions therein contained. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />PortsmoUth that: <br /> <br />(a) Mr~ Louis H. Keller, the person filing the peti- <br />tion, shall present to the City Clerk, on or before <br />April 8, 1960, 20,000 copies of his printed argmme~t <br />in favor of the proposed ordinance, such printed matter <br />to be folded so as not to exceed $~ inches by 3 3/4 inches° <br /> <br />(b) Permission of the Council is hereby extended the <br />Democratic Executive Committee of the City of Portsmouth <br />to presen~ to the City Clerk printed arguments opposing <br />the proposed ordinance, at the same time, mn the same <br />number and folded as specified in paragraph (a) above° <br /> <br />(c) Such printed matter shall be identi£ied with the <br />names of the persons or groups submitting the same° <br /> <br /> Adopted at a meeting of the Council of the City of Portsmouth on <br />March 22, 1960. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
