~HEREAS, on March 28, 1961, the Council of the City of Portsmouth <br />adopted an ordinance approving the preparation of a General Renewal Plan to <br />cover the area shown on a certain plat entitled "Parkview Neighborhood Con- <br />servation Plan," which ordinance was amended August 8, 1961; and <br /> <br /> Wt~ZEREAS, the Urban Renewal Administration has declined approval <br />for such application unless any area north of Ann Street and west of the <br />Lincolnsville Redevelopment project area is deleted from said plan and in- <br />cluded in aa application for a so-called non-assistance conservation pro- <br />gram; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the opinion of the Urban Renewal Administration the <br />plan to be developed may include one or more projects which must be sponsored <br />by the CiTy of Portsmouth because the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing <br />AUihor~ty is without authority To take such action. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />(1) that the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is re- <br />quested To delete from the application authorized by the aforesaid <br />ordinance the area north of Ann Street and wesE of the Lincolnsville <br />Redevelopment project area, ro which the Urban Renewal Administra- <br />5ion has objected, and to file the amended application as promptly <br />as possible. <br /> <br />(2) that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed-%o exe- <br />cute the amended application in behalf of the City of Portsmouth, <br />thereby evidencing the agreemen% of the City of Portsmouth to sponsor <br />any project hereafter undertaken in the renewal area, which the <br />Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority may not undertake in <br />its individual capacity. <br /> <br />(3) that the City ~anager is hereby authorized and directed ~o pre- <br />pare and submit To the Council an application for a non-assisted con- <br />servation program within the area hereby authorized ~o be deleted <br />Erom the general neighborhood renewal area. <br /> <br />AdopIed by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, on October <br /> Tests: <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br /> <br />
