WHEREAS, the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce has selected <br /> Doctor Mac Carter Adams as one of the ten outstanding young men of America <br /> for the year 1960, said honor having been richly deserved in recognition <br /> of Doctor Adams' work in the successful solution of the intercontinental <br /> ballistic missile re-entry problem; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Doctor Mac Carter Adams is a native of the City of Portsmouth, <br /> having graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School as an honor student with <br /> an outstanding record in extra-curricular activities. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia. that congratulations and best wishes for continued success are <br />hereby expressed and extended in behalf of the citizens of this city to <br />Doctor Mac Carter Adams upon his having been selected as one of the ten out- <br />standing young men for the year 1960. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon <br />the minutes of the City Council, and that certified copies he sent by the City <br />Clerk to Doctor Mac Carter Adams, his mother, Mrs. Neville Adams, and to the <br />United States Junior Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br /> Adopted at a meeting of the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />on January 24, 1961. <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
