~IEREAS, the Portsmouth Junior Chamber of Commerce, a voluntary <br />organization of young men dedicated to the improvement of the community in <br />which they live, undertook as one of its public service projects, the con- <br />struction of a miniature train in City Park to provide wholesome amusement <br />for the children of the City of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the members of the Portsmouth Junior Chamber of Commerce <br />have, after much personal efforts, successfully constructed said miniature <br />railroad; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the spirit of these young men is an inspiration to all <br />t)e Citizens of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORe, BE IT P~SOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the appreciation of the Citizens of this City <br />for the efforts of.the Portsmouth Junior ~hamber of Commerce in constructing <br />a miniature train for the children of thi~ community, be hereby expressed <br />and conveyed to the Portsmouth Junior Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of these resolutions be spread <br />upon the minutes of this Council and a copy thereof be presented to the <br />Portsmouth Junior Chamber of Commerce~ <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth at a'meeting <br />held July 28, 1964. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
