RHSOLb?ION OF COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, APPROVING UNDERTAKING OF SURVEYS AND PLANS FOR A R]~DBVELOP~ENT PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING FILING OF AN APPLICATION WHEREAS. under Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, as amended (herein referred to as "Title I"), the Housing and Home Finance Administrator is authorized to extend financial assistance to local public agencies in the elimination and prevention of the spread of their slums and urban blight through the planning and undertaking of urban renewal (herein referred to as "Redevelopment") projects; and I~EREAS, it is desirable and in the public interest that the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority make surveys and prepare plans, presently estimated to cost approximately One Hundred Five Thousand,Five Hundred Ninety-nine ($105,599.00) Dollars, in order to undertake and carry out a redevelopment project of the character contemplated by Section 110 (c) of Tittle I, in that area proposed as a Redevelopment Area, situated in the City of Portsmouth, Commonwe¢Ith of Virginia, which ia described as shown on the attached sheets. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THH COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA: 1. That the proposed Redevelopment Area described above is a slum, blighted, deteriorated or deteriorating area appropriate for a redevelopment project and that the undertaking by the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority of surveys and plans for a redevelopment project of the character contemplated by Section 110 (c) of Title I in the proposed Redevelopment Area is hereby approv. 2.
