V~EREAS, a special election has been called for April 20, 1965.~ <br />upon the question of repealing the ordinance permitting the sale of beer <br />and wine on Sundays, and Section 3 of Chapter 10 of the City Char~er <br />provides for the mailing to qualified voters of printed copies of argu- <br />ments with respect to the issue, subject To certain p~ovisions therein <br />contained. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEEEFOEE, BE iT RESOLVED by the Couucil of the City of <br /> Portsmouth, Virginia, that: <br /> <br /> 1. The proponents of the repeal of said ordinance shall pre- <br /> sent to the City Clerk on or before ~rch 26, 1965, 20,000 copies of <br /> their printed arg~uent in favor of such repeal, such argument to be <br /> printed on yellow colored paper and folded so as not to exceed 8 1/2 <br /> inches by 3 3/4 inches. <br /> <br /> 2. The opponents of the repeal of said ordinance shall present <br /> to the City Clerk on or before March 26, 1965, 20,000 copies of their <br /> printed arg~m~ent against the repeal of said ordinance] such argument to <br /> be printed on blue colored paper ~nd folded so as not ~o exceed 8 1/2 <br /> inches by 3 3/4 inches. <br /> <br /> 3. Such printed ~atter shall be identified with the names of <br /> the persons or groups submitting the same. <br /> 4. Only one printed arg~uent in the prescribed quantity will <br /> be accepted from each side. <br /> <br /> 5.
