~, the Department of Health, Education and Welfare is <br />authorized under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to make grants <br />to municipalities for the construction of sewerage treatment works, and <br /> <br /> WHKREAS, it is necessary for the City of Portsmouth ~o <br />expand its sewerage systam. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by ~he Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virgimia, that: <br /> <br /> (1) Aubrey P. Johnson, Jr., City M~nager, is authorized <br /> to sub~t smd sign sm application, and all subsequent <br /> documents, to the Department of Health, Educatio~ and <br /> Welfare pursuant to the provisions of the Federal Water <br /> Pollution Control Act requesting a grant of $81,000.00 <br /> to be used ~o construct an extension of its sewerage <br /> system. <br /> <br /> (2) The City of Portsmouth will pay the remaining cost <br /> <br /> of the project if the reques~ is approved. <br /> <br /> (3) The City of Portsmouth will provide proper an~ <br /> efficient operation ang maintenance of the approved <br /> project after completion of construction thereof. <br /> (4) The City of Portsmouth witI comply ~rith the <br /> requirements of Executive Order 11246, pertaining to <br /> equal employment opportunity in federally assisted <br /> construction contracts. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at <br /> <br />a meeting held September 26, ~67. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />-City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
