A RESOLUTION ~O PROVIDE FOP, ~FHE ACQUISITION 0P C~TAIN PROP~RI~f BY ~7r~ CITY OF PORTSMOUTH b~©~R ~NEh~F DC~,~aI~~ PROCE~DI~NGS PORSU~2~ TO Ci~API~R 229 OF ~E ACTS OF ASS~4BLY OF 1966, SAID PROPF~T~f BEING i~mCESSARY FOR TR~ CONSTRUCTION, WIDENING ~ ~.~RO\~,~i~T OF STATE HIG~¢IAY RObiE 58 ~ROM THE INE~tSECTION OF AiRLINE BOULEVARD ~ND HIGH STREET TO ~E INTER- SECTION OF LONDON ~ND ~FIJNGH/hM STREETS. k~i~REAS, in cooperation with the Federal and State governments, State Highway Route 58 is being constructed~ ~idened and improved from the intersection of Airline Boulevsmd and High_ Street to the intersection of London and Effingham Streets in the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia~ and ~EREAS, one of the obligations of the City of Portsmouth with respect to said project is the provision of the land necessary for the construction; and %~%~REAS~ the City of Portsmouth has fotund it to be necessary to acquire the interest hereinafter specified in smd to the hereinafter described parcels of land situate fi_n the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, for the purpose of constructing, widening and improving the aforesaid State Highway Route 58; s~nd WHERE&S, the City of Portsmouth bas not been able to purchase the property described herein, necessary to the project, because the o~ae~s thereof smd the City ha%-e not been able to agree upon the price to be paid therefor, or the City has not been able to locate certain of the ovrners or because of the status of the title of certain parcels of the property; and BfHERK&S~ advanceraent of the work sa~d use of said State Higja~fay Route 58 will be delayed taru~easonably if the said property is not m~de available as soon as possible.
