A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF CLRTAIN PROPERTY BY T~ CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH UNDER HM~INEL~ DCY~_iN PROc~;~;I~INGS PURSUAN~ TO CHAPT~ 229 OF <br />THE ACTS OF ASS~LY OF 1966, SAID PROPERTY BEING NECESSARY FOR THE CON- <br />STRUCTION, WIDENING AND Z4PROV~T OF STATE HIGh,lAY ROUTE 58 FROM THE <br />IRT~SECTION OF AIRLINE BOULEVARD AND HIGH STOl' TO ~ I~Tn~SECTION <br />OF LO. ON AND EF~'iNGHAM STREETS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in cooperation wit~ the Federal and State governments, <br />State Highway Route 58 is beirg constructed, widened ~rd improved from the <br />intersection of Airline Boulevard and High Street to the intersection of <br />Lotion and Effirgham Streets in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WH~qE~,, part of the said highway b~s been designated as a Limited <br />Access Highway in accordance with the .provisions of Article 3~ Chapter l, <br />Title 33, of the 1950 Code of Virginia as amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ one of the obligations of the City of Portamouth with res- <br />pect to said project is the provision of the land necessary for the construc- <br />tion; and <br /> <br /> ~, the City of Portsmouth has found it to be necessary to ac- <br />quire the interest hereinafter specified in and to the hereinafter described <br />parcel of land situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, for the purpose of <br />constructiog, widenirg and improving the aforesaid State Highvay Route 58; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portamouth has not been able to purchase the <br />property described herein, necessary to the project, because the owners there- <br />of and the City have not been able, to agree upon the price to be paid there- <br />for, or the City ~as not been able to locate certain of the owners or because <br />of the status of the title of certain parcels of the property; and <br /> <br /> <br />
