A RESOLUTI@J TO PROVIDE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF CEE~AIN PROPEFA~Y BY ~ <br />CITY OF PORTSMOUIH UNDER EMINENT DOMAIN PROCEEDINGS PURSUANT TO CHAP- <br />TEit 229 OF THE ACTS OF ASSt~IBLY OF 1966, SAID PROPERTY BEING NECESSARY <br />FOR ~HE CONSTRUCTION, WIDENZ[k~ Ah]D LMPROVEMENT OF STATE HIG~AY ROUTE <br />58 FROM ~HE I~i~RSECTION OF AIRLINE BOULEVARD AND HIGH STREET TO THE <br />INTERSECTION OF LONDON AND E~'~±NGHAM ST~t~rSo <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ in cooperation with the Federal and State gove~ <br /> ments, State Highway Route 58 is being constructed, widened and improved <br /> fr~ the intersection of Airline Boulevard and High Street to the inter- <br /> section of London and Effingham Streets in the City of Port~nouth, Vir- <br /> ginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, one of the obIigations of the City of Portsmouth with <br /> respect to said project is the provision of the land necessary for the <br /> construction; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has found it to be necessary <br /> <br />to acquire the interest hereinafter specifie~ in and to the hereinafter <br />described parcels of land situate in the City of Portsmouth, V~inia, for <br />the purpose of constructing, widening and improving the aforesaid State <br />H~ghway Route 58; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has not been able to purchase <br />the property described herein, necessary to the project, because the own- <br />ers thereof and the City have not been able to aEree upon the price to be <br />paid therefor, or the City has not been able to locate certain of the own- <br />ers or because of the status of the title of certain parcels of the property; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, advancement of the work and use of said State Highway <br />Route 58 will be delayed unreasonably if the ssid property is not made <br />available as soon as possible. <br /> <br /> <br />
