A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR ~HE ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN PROPE~fiT BY,HE CITY OF PORTSM~ UNDER E~NENT DOMAIN PR~INGS~ PURSUAhT TO 229 OF ~HE ACTS OF ASSEMBLY OF 1966,~SAID PROPERTY BEIk~ NECESSARY FOR ~HE CONSTRUCTION, W-iDENING AND ~MPR0~ OF STATE HIGHWAY ROO'IE 58 FROM ~HE IN'f~SECTION OF AIPJ~iNE BOULEVARD AND HIGH STREET TO I~SECTION OF LONDON AND ~'ZNGHAM STREETS. W~EAS, in cooperation v~th the Federal and State governments, State Highway Route 58 is being constructed, widened ar~ Lmprove~ from the intersection of Airline Boulevard and H~ Street to the intersection of London and Effingham Streets in the ~ity of Portsmouth, Virginia; and WHEREAS, pa~t 9f said ~i~.=hway bas been designated as a Ldmited Access Highway in accordance with the provisions, of Article 3, Chapter l, Title 33, of the 1950 Code of Virginia~as ame~ed; and 'WHEREAS, one ofthe obligations' oft. the City of PortsmouTh with respect to said project is the provision of the land necessary for the construction; and WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has found it to be necessary to acquire the interests hereinafter specified in and to the hereinafter described parcel of land situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, for the purpose of coD~tructing~ widenirg and improving the aforesaid State Highway Route 58; and WHEREAS, the ~ity of Portsmouth has not been able to purchase the property described hereir4 necessary to the project~ because of the status of the title of the proper~y; and WHEP~AS, advancement of the work and use of said State Highway Route 58 ~ll be delayed unreasonably if the said property is not made available as soon as possible.
