NOW, ~HEPG~FORE~ BE IT RF~0LVED by the Cotuncil of the City of l~ortsmouth~ Virgir_ia~ that it will: 1. Promptly inmtiate st_ps to cause a floodplain in- formation study to be ~ade of the flood-affected area of such magnitude and detail as may be required by the Federal Insurs~nce Administrator. 2. As soon as practicable after the receipt of appro- priate floodplain info~,tion For which the City of Portsmouth bas applied for and received approval for a floodplain information study in accordance with ~ection 206~ P.L. 86-645 (Flood Control Act of 1960) as amer~ted, erect smd mintain in.force for the affect- ed flood-prone areas v~ithin its bom~daries~ land use and control measures consistent with the criteria of the National Flood Insurance Program. ~. Cooperate with J~isdictions the boundaries of w~ich are contiguous to those of Portsmouth, Virginia, in regulating the use o£ floodplains .so as to minimize losses from flooding. ~. Hereby appoint the City M~nager of Portsmouth, Vir-- ginia, as the official ~,~th the responsibi!it~, authority; and meads to implement the commitments rode herein for the City of Ports- mouth, Virginia. 5. Direct the City Mzmager of Portsmouth, Virginia to furnish pertinent flood data to the appropriate local, federal or state official in ms-king application for flood insurance to the Federal Insurance Administrator of the United States Department of Housing and LYban Development. 6. Direct the Clerk, of the City of Portamouth, Virginia, to provide copies of this resolution as may be required to be used in m~_king application for insurance coverage omder the provisions of the National Flood Insurance Act of 19~8 mud to provide a copy to the Commissioner of Water Reso~mces, Con~onwealth of Virginia.
