He shall make such reports <br />in regard to the assessment of both property and licenses, <br />er either, as may be required by the council or by the city <br />manager. He shall perform such other duties and have such <br />other powers as are now or may hereafter be prescribed by law <br />or ordinance. <br /> <br />6.05. Clerks of Court. <br /> <br /> Notwithstanding any provision of generat law, the <br />clerks of the courts of record of the city shall each be paid <br />a salary as provided by'law, ~hich salary shall be in full <br />compensation for services and shall be ix lieu eg the retention <br />by such clerk of .any and all official fees and commissions of <br />whatever kind or character, and from whatever source derived, <br />and the council shall provide for the payment of such salary <br />out of the treasury of the city. The expenses of office <br />of such clerk, including compensation of deputies an~employees, <br />shall be likewise paid out of the treasury of the city on duly <br />authenticated vouchers, when and as such expenses are incurred, <br />or may become due and payable. <br /> <br /> Ali fees and commissions of every kind or c~aracter <br />received or collected by such clerk~ and fro~ whateYer source <br />deriv~d~ shall be paid into the treasury of the city not less <br />than once each month. All fees and co~missions of every <br />kind and eharacter, whether payable by the state, the United' <br />States, or by priYate persons~ firms or corporations, now or <br />hereafter receivable by law 9r ordinance by such clerk, shall <br />continue to be paid ~o and collected by him, and shall be paid <br />into the treasury of the city, except that the city shall not <br />be required to pay any such clerk any fees or commissions for <br />services performed for such city. <br /> <br />§ 6.06. City Sergeant. <br /> <br /> In addition to the duties imposed upon him by state <br />law, the city sergeant and his deputies are authorized and <br />directed to accept and receive payment of such fines and costs <br />as may~have been imposed upon any person in his custody by <br />a court of competent jurisdiction, giving his official receipt <br />therefor. Upon the payment of such fines and costs, the city <br />sergeant or his deputy shall release the offender from custody <br />if.not prohibited by law or court order. Any moneys so received <br />shall be accounted for and paid over to the-c!erk of the court <br />which imposed such penalty upon the offender immediately upon <br />the-opening of such clerk's office on the next regular business <br />day or as soon thereafter as practicable. The clerk shall give <br />his official receip~ to the city sergeant for such moneys so <br />received. <br /> <br />.§ 6.07. <br /> <br />~igh Constable. <br /> <br /> (a) The city council shall appoint an officer to be <br />known as the high constable, who shall serve at the pleasure of <br /> <br />-16- <br /> <br /> <br />
