Federal Water Pollution Control Act, the <br />federal goverrment will'pay ~.p to fifty-five ~pa?'centum (55%) of ~ter <br />~p?llution abatement construct!on bosts,~if the state will put up twgnty~ <br />flv~ per centum (25%) and the local agency the remaining twenty pe~"~6~n- <br />'t~ (20%) of such costs; and <br /> <br /> WH~gFAS, vrithout state participation, the federal contribu- <br />tion is limited to thirty per centum (30%); a6d - ~ ~ ~ <br /> <br /> WHERFAS, the utilization of federal funds for the purposes <br />would be of great benefit to the development Of Virginia, the conser- <br />vation of its natural resources, and the health of its citizens. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED-by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that it hereby requests the General Assembly of <br />Virginia to appropriate sufficient funds for water pollution abatement <br />coMstruction costs to enable the .state and its political subdivisions <br />smd other governmental agencies to take advantage of the federal grants <br />available urger the Federal Water Pollution Control Act.
