A RESOLUTION REQUEST!~ A GRANT UNDER THE <br />FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION ACT FOR CONSTRUC- <br />TIO~ OF SEWERAGE TREATMENT WORKS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Interior is authorized <br />under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to make <br />grants to municipalities for the construction of sewerage <br />treatment works, and <br /> <br /> WHEP~AS, it is necessary for the City of Ports- <br />mo~th to expand its sewerage system. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that: <br /> <br />1. A.P. Johnson, Jr., City ~.~nager, is authorized to sub,it <br />and sign an application, and all subsequent documents, to the <br />Department of Interior pursuant to the provisions of the <br />Pederal Water Pollution Control Act requesting a grant <br />to be used to construct an extension of its sewerage system. <br /> <br />2. The project will consist of the construction of sanitary <br />sewers along Calva!ier Boulevard and Greenwood Drive (S-5), <br />in the Elizabeth Acres and Mayflower Park Areas (S-l) and <br />in the Manor View Area (S-7), and the construction of pump- <br />ing stations on Greenwood Drive (S-8), Melvin Drive (S-2) <br />and Chandler Harper Drive (S-9[, and such additional sewers <br />and pumping stations as the City shall deem necessary or <br />desirable. <br /> <br />3. The City of P~rtsmouth will pay the remaining cos% of <br />the project if the requ6st is approved. <br /> <br />4. The City of Portsmouth Klm_ provide proper and efficient <br />operation and maintenance of the approved project after <br />completion of construction uhereo~. <br /> <br />5. The City of Portsmouth will comply with the requirements <br />of Executive Order 11246, pertaining to ~qual employment <br />opportunity in federally assisted construction contracts. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth~ <br />Virginia, at a meeting held November 10, 1970. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
