A RESOLUTION REQUEST!~ A GRANT UNDER THE FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION ACT FOR CONSTRUC- TIO~ OF SEWERAGE TREATMENT WORKS. WHEREAS, the Department of Interior is authorized under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to make grants to municipalities for the construction of sewerage treatment works, and WHEP~AS, it is necessary for the City of Ports- mo~th to expand its sewerage system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that: 1. A.P. Johnson, Jr., City ~.~nager, is authorized to sub,it and sign an application, and all subsequent documents, to the Department of Interior pursuant to the provisions of the Pederal Water Pollution Control Act requesting a grant to be used to construct an extension of its sewerage system. 2. The project will consist of the construction of sanitary sewers along Calva!ier Boulevard and Greenwood Drive (S-5), in the Elizabeth Acres and Mayflower Park Areas (S-l) and in the Manor View Area (S-7), and the construction of pump- ing stations on Greenwood Drive (S-8), Melvin Drive (S-2) and Chandler Harper Drive (S-9[, and such additional sewers and pumping stations as the City shall deem necessary or desirable. 3. The City of P~rtsmouth will pay the remaining cos% of the project if the requ6st is approved. 4. The City of Portsmouth Klm_ provide proper and efficient operation and maintenance of the approved project after completion of construction uhereo~. 5. The City of Portsmouth will comply with the requirements of Executive Order 11246, pertaining to ~qual employment opportunity in federally assisted construction contracts.
