RESOLUTION EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES OF THE COUNCIL TO THE FAMILY <br />OF THE LATE W. FRED DUCKWORTH. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the late W. Fred Duckworth was for many <br />years a highly respected business and civic leader in the <br />City of Norfolk, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said W. -Fred Duc~¢orth made an out- <br />standing contribution to the progress of~the Tidewater area <br />during his many years of service as Mayor of Norfolk, and his <br />leadership was a source of inspiration to citizens of the <br />entire area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said W. Fred Duckworth continued to <br />work zealously for the progress of the community after his <br />retirement from full time participation in business and <br />government; and <br /> <br /> WHEP~AS, W. Fred Duckworth died a victim of sense- <br />less violence. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth, that it expresses its sympathy and <br />condolences to the family, friends, and the fellow citizens <br />of Mr. Duckworth in Norfolk, Virginia, and ]oins with them <br />in mourning the passing of this fine man. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia at a meeting held March 28, 1972. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
