A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 7 TO THE CRAWFORD URBAN
<br />RENEWAL PLAN, VA. R-53, ADOPTED BY THE PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOP-
<br />M~NTAND HOUSING AUTHORITY.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this Council, by resolution adopted August
<br />8, 1967, approved the Redevelopment Plan for the Crawford
<br />Urban Renewal Project, Va. R-53, Portsmouth, Virginia, adopt-
<br />ed by Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority; and
<br /> WHEREAS, there was presented to this body, for con-
<br />sideration and approval, a copy of an amended Urban Renewal
<br />Plan for the project area, dated December, 1972, which Plan
<br />is entitled, "Redevelopment Plan for the Crawford Urban Re-
<br />newal Project, No. Va. R-53, Amendment VII", and consists of
<br />15 pages and two exhibits; and
<br /> WHEREAS, by resolution duly adopted December 19, 1972,
<br /> said Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority adopted
<br /> Amendment No. 7 to the said Plan and has requested this Council
<br /> to approve the said Amemdmenti; and
<br /> WHEREAS, said Amendment has been carefully reviewed,
<br /> and it appears that the said Redevelopment Plan, as amended,
<br /> conforms to the general plan for development of the City of
<br /> Portsmouth, as a whole, and ~ives due consideration for the
<br /> provision of adequate parks, pedestrian ways and recreation
<br /> facilities as required by Section 105(a) of the Housing Act
<br /> of 1949, as amended; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, a public hearing on this matter was duly
<br /> held on November 21, 1972;
<br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in
<br /> the interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said
<br /> Amendment be approved;
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
<br /> City of Portsmouth, Virginia: ~
<br /> Section 1: That the aforementioned Amendment No. 7 to the Re-
<br /> developmen~ Plan for th~ craWford Urban Renewal Project, Va.
<br /> R-53, Portsm?uth, Virginia, having been duly reviewed and con-
<br /> sidered, it is hereby found:
<br />
<br /> ~. That the Objectives of the Crawford Urban Renewal
<br /> Project, Va. R, 53, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be
<br /> better achieved by the adoption of said amendment
<br /> to the Plan.
